Camera angles in a movie

Image
I chose the movie called cloud nine which is about a girl who is working hard so she can become a better snowboarder for competitions after she found out that she was not as good as she thought.   This shot is a low shot and also a crab shot. It follows her slowly to the left as she does her trick as she is practicing. This particular scene moves the movie along since right before this scene she kept trying this move and failed time and time again. This clip finally showed the successful outcome and how she had finally mastered the move. It makes the viewer feel excited for her and also from this pov it shows how truly difficult the trick is as she is a an almost 180 degree jump. This pov left the viewer also feeling small as the low shot makes the person on top appear larger. Overall, this shot is used to carry along her progress while demonstrating the move.  This is a high shot. In this scene she keeps falling down but she also keeps getting back up. This scene shows...

Camera povs

This is a hand held shot and while I was doing it I was focused on not making it prefect and making it a bit shaky so it is obvious that it is held by hand.  This is a high angle shot and this was very enjoyable to shoot. Ella stood on the bottom of the staircase while I filmed from the top which gave the perfect high angle.  This is the point of view shot. This is what I can see whenever I walk down the stairs. I was thinking about how clumsy I am so I always watch my feel so I don’t miss a step and fall down.  This is a low angle shot. While filming this I thought about how cool this angle is because it gives the illusion of Ella being huge while in reality she’s small. It’s crazy how different camera angles such as me lying on the floor with my phone can impact a scene.  This is a two person shot as Carly and Ella were both in the camera clearly communicating about something. I was thinking about how I’m scenes they rarely stay still so I chose to move around and ...

Introducing Jocelyn

Hi my name is Jocelyn Ava Shipp. I am very excited for aice media as I have a strong passion for sitting around and watching movies. The idea that I will be watching exciting clips and dissecting them makes me full with happiness. I hope in this class I will learn to not have to ask a million questions during the movie to figure out what is going on. I also hope to learn more about how movies are produced and the secrets of the camera angles so my iMovie's from when I was 8 can be heavily improved. I can't wait for a great year of learning!
